Lectures on Shakespeare's Women

Ellen Terry went on tour as a solo performer with her own lectures on Shakespeare's female characters. She performed them in the USA in 1910-11 at the height of the British women's suffrage movement. In 1914 her lecture tour of Australia and New Zealand kept her away from home longer than expected. The First World War began, making her trip back to Britain fraught with danger.
